Smile like you mean it

Yesterday was Austin’s 2 month appointment. We’ve come a long way, baby. He weighed in at 13.3 lbs and is 24 inches long. He got three immunization shots, which weren’t so awesome, but today he is his chipper self.

He’s staring at me right now as I type. I just got a smile. And another one. Technically his first witnessed smile was on April 9th for my mom (although I was getting them before that...), but now they're coming more frequently. He’s waking into this world and it is so fun to watch. This morning I put him on his activity gym and he started talking to himself in the mirror that’s on the mat. This was a first. He seemed to like himself waaay more than that pesky ceiling fan!

We actually need to entertain him. Hayden read him several books last night for the first time. The reviews were mixed. Hayden found many of the books silly; Austin was quite grumpy from his shots so neither seemed that into it. I’m sure they will find books that appeal to both.

Our pediatrician said we can start having a bedtime…not so much sleep training just yet. But a bedtime routine, which I think we’re all ready for – at least I am. Austin’s pretty good at staying settled at night. He wakes up to feed but otherwise goes back to sleep, so that’s good. The real training, with crib, will start soon, but not just yet J

We took our first roadtrip for Easter. We went to NJ and even though we sat in major traffic, Austin was perfect. We got to show him off to all of my relatives, who were so excited to meet him. He got to see his Uncle Jeffrey again, who is smitten with him.

He is such a good baby. I’m exhausted every day, but I am grateful and I love him so much.
